Turkish Airlines, Europe's fourth-biggest shipper, does not have adequate planes to meet its expansion plans and may obtain double-deck aircraft, Chairman Hamdi Topcu informed Star newspaper on Friday.
The Istanbul-based airline seems at the possibility of both the Airbus A380 or Boeing's 747-8 double-deck aircraft, Topcu told the newspaper.
Boeing is increasing the 747-8 for delivery estimated next year. It will straightly fight with Airbus's A380 model, which is already in service.
Topcu repeated the flag carrier's navy target of 184 planes in 2011, up from 142 now. It has positioned orders for 89 planes, 24 which are for wide-body aircraft planned for long-haul routes.
