Reservations have started by (CNA) Airlines for extra Lunar New Year flights, and companies are still applying for more extra flights to meet a great demand for the busy holiday season and the upcoming elections, the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) said Friday.
The additional flights were approved for the Jan. 9 to Feb. 6 periods, with no limit on the number of extra flights to any destination in Taiwan or China except for Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Guangzhou.
According to the CAA, the first wave of additional flights was approved on Nov. 30, with a total of 87 and 151 extra flights for Taiwanese and Chinese airlines, respectively.
The administration noted that the total number of extra flights available for Taiwanese and Chinese airliners for the lunar New Year festival is limited to 102 and 201, respectively.
Airline companies urged the public to make reservations as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
