US Airways plans to proffer in-flight Internet

US Airways declares it will provide in-flight Internet service from the beginning early next year in an agreement with provider Aircell.

The service announced recently will include Web browsing, instant messaging, e-mail and VPN access for obtain by passengers with laptops or other Wi-Fi devices.

Depending on the length and size of the flight and the type of device used by the passenger prices will range from $5.95 to $12.95.

Initially Aircell's Gogo service will be installed on US Airways' Airbus A321 aircraft on some household routes.

US Airways strategy is to let passengers check whether access will be accessible on their flight by looking for a Wi-Fi icon while booking on the airline's Web site.

Some other airlines, including Delta and American, have previously begun furnishing some planes with Internet access using Aircell's Gogo. Southwest is testing a system from a opponent supplier.
