Coming up the new Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli


New International Airport for Bangalore City is coming up soon at Devanahalli, Bangalore International Airport (IATA: BLR, ICAO: VOBG) is an international airport that is being constructed at the cost of Rs 1,930.29 crore to serve the city of Bangalore, India. The airport is located in Devanahalli, which is located 30 km from the city.

Construction of the airport began in July 2005, after a decade long delay it is expected to be completed and operational by April 2, 2008. It will then take all the commercial flights that are currently in service out of the HAL Airport . The Airport will be named as the "Bangalore International Airport".

Its capacity would be approximately 11 million people per annum. There will be 54 check-in counters with 16 gates provided and the Aircraft moment will be 27 per hour. There would be 8 aero-bridges including one double arm aerobridge with 42 aircraft stands.

Terminal parking:

In the first phase of expansion, a car park for 2,000 cars in front of the terminal building at the ground level will be developed for the convenience of passengers and visitors to the airport.

HAL Bangalore International Airport handled an estimated 7.5 million passengers a year as of 2006 and an standard of at least 300 flights (take-offs and landings) per day, earning is estimated to Rs 1-1.5 billion in landing and aircraft parking fees from scheduled airlines. HAL Bangalore Airport is the third busiest Airport in India after Mumbai and Delhi.
